October 2024

It’s that time of the year again, time to start planning for 2025!

I know you have so many things to do as the year winds down. Be sure that updating your systems with the new codes for 2025 is on your list. Being proactive with these coding changes will ensure you can more accurately treatment plan for patients with appointments scheduled in the upcoming year.

There are a few changes regarding the CDT codes, some of the highlights for OMS include the following codes:

New codes:

D6193 replacement of an implant screw
D7252 partial extraction for immediate implant placement
D7259 nerve dissection
D9914 administration of dermal fillers
D9959 unspecified sleep apnea services procedures, by report

Revision Codes:

Please check out the new descriptors for D0160, D0801, and D6011.

Deleted Code:

D6095 repair implant abutment, by report.

Be on the lookout for updates from your carriers regarding coverage guidelines and fees for these new codes. Be sure to update your practice management software with these new codes so you can treatment plan for 2025 (but remember, don’t report the codes until next year).

On the medical side, there are also some changes for you to be aware of. Specifically related to the synchronous audio-video visit codes. If your practice performs telehealth visits, I recommend you check out the updates, as CPT codes 99442 and 99443 will be deleted as of January 1, 2025. Check out CPT 98003-98016 for the descriptions of the new codes.

Preparing for these updates now will make things smoother for you in 2025.

Happy coding and treatment planning!

Keep Calm and Code On!
