Dear Patient,

It’s September and in the coding world you know what that means. … time to start getting ready for the new coding updates! Our first set of new codes is the ICD-10 update which becomes effective for all dates of service as of October 1, 2020.

Below I have listed the coding changes most related to OMS offices. I have also included a link to the CMS website where you can find all of the revisions (there are some changes to other codes you may be using as well to “tell the story” to the insurance carriers.) In total this year there are 490 additions, 58 deletions and 47 revisions. Here is a link to the complete list of ICD 10 updates for October 1, 2020:

Next month I will be highlighting the changes to the CDT code sets. Most of you will be happy to hear that as of January there will be a specific code to report zygomatic implants, Woo hoo!
